The Killer Whale known as “El Chaparro” tunneled out of his SeaWorld tank in San Diego, California sometime between Thursday evening and Friday morning. The tunnel was approximately twenty feet in diameter and filled with sea water and plankton. It is suspected that “El Chaparro” may have had help from an outside pod of killer whales.

“We expect this sort of thing from beavers,” a spokesman from SeaWorld said, “but not Killer Whales.”

This is not the first escape for “El Chaparro.” The fugitive Orca first escaped from SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida over a decade ago, also by constructing an underwater tunnel.
